Brian Eno Calls On Support to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The effort seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
A Possibility for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of performers featured on Lullaby features a selection of acclaimed names from the scene. All took part in the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The single showcases a mix of the heritage language with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We aim for whatever we can get. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a handful of millions won't make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
