Information Available About the Victims of the Bondi Beach Terror Attack
A minimum of 16 individuals perished and in excess of 40 sustained injuries when assailants fired on a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, an attack Australian police have labeled a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, authorities have confirmed the death toll stands at 16, which includes one of the alleged gunmen. Additionally, 42 injured people were taken to the hospital.
Those who died have not yet been officially identified, but police believe their ages are from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first to be publicly identified.
Described as a father-of-five, he served as the associate rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and acquaintances described him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How can a happy rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, have his life ended in this way?” a family member asked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their youngest child just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, according to his wife.
She recounted the events before the attack, stating they had been standing together when the gunfire erupted. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she recalled.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having experienced immense hardship in their childhood. They had subsequently moved to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
The French authorities have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
Officially, the Foreign Minister said that France mourned with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This despicable act is a new, tragic manifestation of a revolting outpouring of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,” the message read.
One Child
A child who was taken to the Sydney Children’s Hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, according to police reports.
One Israeli Citizen
A national of Israel was among those killed in the incident, according to reports referencing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, a significant number remain under care, with five in serious condition. The injured comprise two police officers who responded to the attack.
A wounded man is a bystander who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the gunmen. Described as a hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. Sources state he was hurt and is receiving treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he described the incident as an “utter carnage,” but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He said he felt it was a “miracle” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was also injured in the attack. He described he listened to “dozens and dozens” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I was hit. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
