Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to coach Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, remarked that returning someday is an option. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown for three decades, now holds positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the league title in the previous campaign, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he told Steven Bartlett: “I declared I will never coach another team in England. Which implies in case it's my former club...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision down the line, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to the dugout, he revealed he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours through long matches; I'm glad to skip press conferences four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended of the current boss, praising him due to the changes that won the league last campaign. Liverpool have lost four in a row in all competitions post heavy investment, though he denied the idea that it might signal a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a player he signed while in charge, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a car crash with his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the team environment missing him. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys too. No one within the club will ever use it to justify results but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Handling this individually is challenging. Impossible.”
