Seamer Atkinson Compounds the English team's Fitness Problems.

'Significant concern' for the touring side after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the field on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The England team indicated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and would spend time off the field to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the series beginning on 4 January starts on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have previously lost fast bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was omitted for the Adelaide match, then recalled for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

After bowling one over at the end of day one, he resumed on Saturday morning and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and immediately felt for his hamstring.

Atkinson returned to the side for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
