The Blue Jays Earn World Series Matchup Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their initial championship series following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming championship.

"It's incredible for our team, our city, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an amazing experience."

The veteran has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that spot except for George Springer with his October magic," remarked Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team that has never reached in a World Series.

Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but commended their work this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we finished on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.

The Blue Jays secured the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on this Friday.
