The Comedy Series Brassic Ends Its Run with Tarantino-Inspired Finale
The creators Joseph Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst are bringing the curtain down on their humorous show about a tight-knit bunch of endearing rogues causing chaos in a rural Lancashire town. You might expect the last episode to be a greatest hits victory lap of booze, drugs and cheeky thievery. But, the vibes are distinctly darker as Vinnie (Gilgun) and the crew barricade themselves in a bar with gangster Davey MacDonagh for a climactic 50th episode apparently inspired by the filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.

The animal-related escapades are generally good, but this excellent historical series proves its worth with tender character work. A particularly affecting episode intertwines the tales of a lame shire horse and a missing young cow into a more serious storyline centring on the character Tristan, whose behaviour prompts a brotherly confrontation.
The Hack

The journey has been lengthy. But the penultimate episode of this at first slow-moving but ultimately compelling phone-hacking drama sees David Tennant’s Nick uncovering information about the actions of the News of the World that the rest of the media simply are forced to acknowledge. Things are also looking up for Dave, who has a surprising new ally.
