The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song
The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It features our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at multiple agonizing backstories for key figures such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.
All in all, the intro looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the music selection.
This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. It's a track from the official score of the same name, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental choice, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its inclusion.
Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the hype and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by musician the artist, was an instant classic in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.
Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.
The show's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's an impressive piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.
Naturally, the creators has stated that the series will have a few changes and variations from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its opening appears as among these.
This animated adventure will be available to watch on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to get to know the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
